HOW IT WORKS
Silica sand is recognized globally as one of the most effective filter media. It has the ability to block impurities and is specifically classified for water filtration systems. Sand filtration is used to remove suspended matter as well as floating and sinking particles. The water flows vertically through a thin bed of sand and gravel and the particles are removed by absorption or physical encapsulation.
Activated Carbon is utilized for chlorine removal and some types of heavy metals bound to organic molecules. It removes a lot more contaminants from water than regular carbon. Resin is an insoluble support structure that usually comes in the form of small beads created from an organic polymer substrate. Activated Carbon consists of a little electro-positive charge. When water flows over the positively charged carbon surface, the contaminant’s negative ions are pulled toward the surface of the carbon granules. This process takes out impurities, odors, and colors from the water.
Gravel is a sub-angle, strong, durable, and dense grain that is primarily a siliceous material. Its physical properties are among the best available in the world for water filtration applications. It is a very effective filter media as it has the ability to block impurities.
